Department of Computing New Units to be introduced in 2008

The following outlines describe the new units in the Computing curriculum to be introduced in 2008.

Unit Title: Computer Games

Code INFO111 Credit Points 3
Unit Description: Computer games provide the only real example of the promise of interactive entertainment held out by modern technologies. Computer games provide a rapidly growing form of entertainment and are also used for educational and business purposes. This unit provides an introduction to the design and study of computer games. Topics covered include the history of games, the cultural and aesthetic study of games, the game development process and the use of games in education.
The assessment includes a project in game modification (known in the industry as "modding").

 Assumed Knowledge – None.

Offered in: Second Semester, D2

Change to COMP225 Algorithms and Data Structures

In 2008, there will be only one offering of this unit.  It will be run in First Semester, D1.

New Security in Computing Labs from November 07

Monday to Friday the E6A Level 1 gates are closed at 10.00pm.Monday to Friday the computer labs are open 7.00am to 1.00am, and on weekends and public holidays 8.00am to 10.00pm. To exit the building from the labs, after hours, students use the external door at the southern end of the building.
