This is the page for COMP496/901, Research Methods and Communication. I've taken and adapted it from Robert Dale, who also taught it until this year. He has a number of other relevant resources on his pages, which I'll point you towards.
Classes are held once a week. Each week's session is typically 2 hours in duration. Dates and topics for the semester are provided here. Slides from classes are made available via links on the schedule page after the classes have taken place.
The purpose of this unit is to ensure that you achieve a basic level of competency in both writing about your research, and in giving presentations. These are skills that require practice, so the way assessment works in this unit is different from that in other units. See here for detailed information.
