Communication
Off-Line
Students with concerns about the unit, feedback or questions are welcome to ask them during each week's lectures/practicals, or right after them. There are no consultation room and time-slot appointed for this unit.
On-Line
News
The news section will be kept updated as dynamically as possible to reflect major and minor changes to the schedule, and point out changes to other pages (see timestamps at bottom of the pages).
Only news of a public nature will be displayed on this page. The Blackboard announcement panel is the reference for announcements, followed-up by e-mails to the students' list if deemed necessary.
All e-mails related to ITEC824 must include:
- in their subject line: [ITEC824] - <your subject>
- in their body:
- your full name;
- your 8 digit student ID number;
- a clear description of your criticism, question or request.
Mailing-Lists
Same rules as for normal e-mail communications apply (see above). Students are expected to protect each other's privacy when using the mailing lists and other public discussion resources (such as Blackboard, see below).

Blackboard
Blackboard is the primary teaching resource for this unit, for information centralization and for teacher-students and students-students communications
Announcements
Blackboard provides an "announcement" feature, where the latest news about the unit will be published. As explained above, this panel should contain all the news related to the unit, whereas the news might only reflect changes and comments that don't violate any privacy issues or copyright concerns.
Forums
Blackboard contains forums, which can be used by students or/and staff members to ask for help. However, the use of the mailing-list is preferred, if these are functional, as they require less overhead than Blackboard to be checked regularly.
The sole advantage over mailing-list is that blackboard forums clearly indicate who's posting, except when the forum is made anonymous explicitely. This can be done to allow you to share your criticism about the class without concern for academic pressure.
Messages
These don't seem to be always configured to forward to the correct e-mail addresses properly for everybody. Therefore, you should refrain from using Blackboard's internal messaging system.
